Things to do

There are plenty of different types of activities available locally, for those guests wishing to be a little adventurous.

Walking

We have some lovely walks through the olive groves and donkey trails directly from our house including the Meseta de Masmullar remains with its underground water chambers.

Yoga

In the local village of Los Ventouros there is a quaint shop which sells Moroccan artifacts, handmade jewelry and local organic produce. Ruth the owner is a fully qualified Yoga teacher and runs Yoga classes on a Wednesday and Saturday, no matter what your level Ruth will make you feel very welcome.

Horse Riding

Just a short stroll along the dirt track is Claire, she owns a stable with three horses and is an experienced and friendly horse trainer. Depending on your level of experience, Claire will either walk or ride beside you, meandering along the mountain tracks at a pace that suits you. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Mountain Biking

If you are feeling a little more energetic and adventurous we have mountain bikes for hire. Our house is situated on one of the five local mountain bike routes, all of which lead to, or around Comares the highest white pueblo in the Axarquia region, where you can stop for refreshments at one of the local bars.

Bird Watching

If you are a twitcher, then you will love Andalucia, it can be a bird watcher's paradise. Some of our guests have spotted various types of birds from the roof terrace, like the Black Vulture, Golden Eagle and Bee Eater. Or, if you fancy a day out bird watching why not go to the Pink Lagoon ( Laguna de Fuente de Piedra), just over an hours drive away, the Pink Lagoon is a haven for birds, over 170 different species have been spotted here.

Drawing/Painting

Ever fancied trying to draw or paint? We have a local lady Carole who is fully qualified to teach you the techniques and skills to start you on your way. There is a 3 day beginners course, or you can choose to take things a little further and choose a 5 day course. These are available between May and September, if you are interested please just drop us an email letting us know what type of drawing/painting you wish to do and we will discuss your ideas with Carole.

Golfing

We have three 18 hole golf courses all of which can be reached in under an hour. There is Baviera Golf a par 71 course situated between Torre del Mar under and Caleta de Vélez. Antequera Golf a par 72 course situated in Antequera close to the El Torcal Natural Parc and Anoreta Golf a par 72 course situated at Rincon de la Victoria.

Beaches

Around 40 minutes away is Torre del Mar with its wide sandy beach, bars and restaurants. A further 10 minutes along the coastline is the town of Nerja with its small coves and beautiful beaches.

Skiing/Snowboarding

A two hour drive away is the mountain range of Sierra Nevada (Snowy Mountain Range) which has some of the highest mountains in Europe. Open for skiing and snowboarding from the end of November to the first week in May, there are 84 kilometres of pisted runs and a snowboard park, suitable for all standards. So plenty of runs to enjoy.

Shopping

There are several markets held during the week in nearby villages or you can choose to go to the bigger towns of Velez-Malaga and Torre del Mar, or even try the City of Malaga, the choice is yours.
